Film producer Upasana Singh on Thursday filed a district court against Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu, alleging that she did not honor the contract she signed for promoting a Punjabi film. Singh filed a civil suit in the Chandigarh district court, seeking damages for alleged breach of contract by Sandhu, who acted as a principal in it. Bai Ji Kuttange.
“I gave Harnaaz a chance to act in the film Bai Ji Kuttange. Not only this, I also do it Hurry Diyan Poo Baran in which Harnaaz is also a hero,” he told reporters outside the court.
The producer said that Sandhu, crowned Miss Universe 2021, has to make it in person and is about to promote the film under the contract with Santosh Entertainment Studio LLP. But he has refused to give dates for the film’s promotion, Singh said.
There was no immediate comment by Sandhu on Singh’s allegations.
“I gave it a chance that time when she wasn’t Miss Universe,” Singh said. “I’ve spent a lot of money on this film, it’s not a low-budget film.” He said he had to postpone the film’s release from May 27 to August 19.

Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe last December at an event held in Israel. Two other Indians, actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000, have previously won the title.
