The combined wealth of Indian billionaires grew by 26% in FY22: Report | Job Binary


NEW DELHI: The total number of billionaires in India has reached a record 166 in the financial year 2021-22, up nearly 18.5 percent from the previous year, a Forbes report said on Tuesday.
The total wealth of billionaires increased by about 26 percent and reached 750 billion dollars, according to the report. In addition, the wealth of the 10 richest people in India is more than a third more than a year ago.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani remains Asia’s richest man. He is also the 10th richest person in the world with a net worth of $90.7 billion.
Adani Group chief Gautam Adani has added nearly $40 billion to his fortune, making him the second richest man in Asia.

“Both Ambani and Adani are spearheading India’s green energy push, with billions of dollars of investment planned over the next decade,” it said.
With a record revenue of $200 billion, the IT sector delivered a solid performance during the year.
HCL Technologies Chairman Shiv Nadar witnessed a 22 percent increase in his wealth and retained his position as India’s 3rd richest person.
The report further revealed that Serum Institute’s Cyrus Poonavala nearly doubled his fortune to $24.3 billion, climbing four ranks. 4.
Savitri Jindal, chairman emeritus of OP Jindal Group, the steel and energy conglomerate named after her late husband, has made it to the top 10 richest people this year. With a fortune of 17.7 billion dollars, he is in the number 1 position. 7.
