UP ATS busts a gang smuggling illegal arms | Job Binary


In line with the Yogi Adityanath government’s zero tolerance policy against crimes and criminals, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad on Friday busted an inter-state gang of illegal arms smugglers and arrested two of its members in a joint operation with the Azamgarh police.

Large quantities of manufactured, semi-manufactured illegal arms and cartridges and empty cartridges, semi-manufactured pen-guns and arms manufacturing materials were seized from them.

It is noteworthy that as a result of the operations conducted by the UP Police against criminals, there has been a significant reduction in crime and criminal activities in the state.

Providing details of the operation, the UP ATS said information was gathered that two people from Azamgarh district along with their other accomplices were involved in manufacturing and smuggling of illegal firearms.

According to the ATS, further inputs were collected through electronic and physical surveillance. Aftab Alam, son of Feroze Alam, resident of Falanagar under Bilariaganj Police Station, Azamgarh and Mainuddin Sheikh, son of Sammu Ahmed of Patila Gauspur village of the same district were involved in the production. Illegal arms, possession of cartridges from gun houses and illegal sale and smuggling of arms and ammunition. Later UP ATS took joint action with Azamgarh Police and arrested both.

During the interrogation, Aftab Alam revealed that he was involved in illegal arms production and smuggling for many years. He has been jailed twice before. Mainuddin Sheikh smuggled illegal arms, cartridges and other supplies.

Mainuddin Sheikh had been smuggling illegal arms and cartridges from gun houses in Azamgarh for a long time and had set up a factory to manufacture weapons in his agricultural land at Ibrahimpura village near Kudhi Dhala in Deva area of ​​Azamgarh. Due to the floods, he was currently running this factory from his home.

Aftab Alam and Syed Qazi Arshad, owner of Qazi Gun House on Asifganj Pandey Bazar Road, Azamgarh, smuggled weapons manufactured in the factory to different areas of Purvanchal. Both used to procure cartridges illegally from the gun house and supply them as per the demand. It has been learned that the accused has connections with Nepal, Pakistan and Dubai.

A case was registered against Aftab Alam and Mainuddin Shaikh at Bilariaganj Police Station, Azamgarh District, a large quantity of manufactured, semi-manufactured illegal arms, cartridges, empty shells, semi-made pen guns (state-of-art), arms making materials and mobiles were seized.

ATS recovered one 9 mm and one .22 mm pistol, one DBBL gun, one SBBL gun, 8 air guns, two 12 bore guns, one gun of .32 bore, two semi-made pen guns, one semi-finished pistol. magazine, four semi-finished carbine barrels, two semi-finished revolvers, two semi-finished shotguns, three magazines of 9 mm, one magazine of .22 mm, one pistol magazine, 10 live cartridges of 9 mm, 51 live cartridges of 12 bore, 12 323 fired cartridge shells of bore, one fired cartridge shell of .315 bore, 6 live cartridges of .22 bore, three fired cartridges of .32 bore, 51 air gun pellets in iron box, 54 air gun pellets in paper box, two telescopes of rifles, three gun butts, 13 gun barrels, seven gun barrels short card, four gun rear side assembly, one DBBL gun part, one pistol slider fist, one headlamp, one drill machine, one gun license (in the name of Mainuddin’s deceased father), two bank check books, one Debit Card, Voter ID Card and PAN Cards and Visiting Card of various gun houses among other things.
